A store full of toxic period products

I went through the aisle of a drugstore in New York and couldn't believe what I saw. Or let's say, what I did not see. I was scanning all the period products offered there and it took me quite a while and quite some effort to find one single product without any biocides, plastic, bleachers, fragrances, or similar.

The only product I found was insanely expensive (10$ for 10 pads...). And still something disposable, so eventually, it would probably not mess up that much with our bodies, but afterward definitely with the environment. Wow, here we are.

This is what is offered in a regular store in the center of New York, as the only option? That's definitely a mess. And I can even tell you from my own personal experience that it is super messed up. As I was not only in that store to do research, but also because my menstruation had kicked in a bit earlier than planned, I did not have my nookees with me and had to find an alternative. A totally overpriced one that afterward did not even work very well.

The moral of the story? First, to really check the products we buy. Not just the period ones, but also everything else in the stores. So often, I am negatively surprised by what's inside products that look quite neat from the outside. Second, please do your research when it comes to period products in particular. Just imagine how often during our entire life we are using those products. Month by month. It is definitely worth checking what is inside the stuff we probably put inside or even close to our bodies.
