... all the time. I had two situations in particular, that would happen again and again, and every time I would be quite annoyed about them. The first one is related to one of my favorite sports in the whole world, surfing. Picture this: Perfect waves rolling in at my favorite surf spot. Best conditions, the sun is out, and... I'm sitting on the beach. Why? Because I'm on my period and obviously I can't use nookees in the water. And surfing while bleeding especially in South Africa (hey sharks) might not be the best option. So what did I do? I stayed out of the water and did not like it at all. At one point I even gave organic tampons a try, but I hated having them inside of me even more than sitting outside the water. So I just stopped surfing during my period. Same with swimming. Not the optimal solution.
The second one is related to pampering myself with some sauna visits, especially while being in Germany during this past winter months. Same story: I can't wear nookees inside the sauna and don't want to leave bloody marks on the wooden benches, so I just stopped doing it during my period. And to be quite frank: Stopping both of them left me quite unhappy.
But what could I do? As I already mentioned, going back to tampons, even for just some hours - no way. And the period cup? Not at all! I have to say I am quite aware of not messing up with my beautiful cervix, so pulling the cup out again after an unpleasant suction was created? Nope, definitely not.
But waiving things I obviously enjoy a lot, that make me feel amazing, especially during my period? Obviously can't be a good solution.
I knew there had to be a better way. So I dove deep into research, testing every alternative I could find. Month after month, product after product, disappointment after disappointment. But sometimes the best discoveries come right when you're about to give up...
