... we will be ahead of everybody else. Recently I heard another founder saying something similar in an interview, leaving me with much food for thought and comparing it to my own experiences.
Last year when I was talking to people about nookees, often the answer was the same: Yeah, I am already using other period panties and am quite happy with them.
In my mind, I couldn't understand that at all, as I exactly knew what was inside those other period panties and how they worked. Biocides, plastic, and PFAS, here we go.
But this year I realised a huge shift. I just came back from a market I did here in Berlin a couple of days ago, where I got the chance to talk to the customers 1:1. And those conversations gave me so many insights, that are incredibly helpful for me.
So what I am hearing now, is that people complain about the smell of period panties. The facts that they can't be washed hot, the chemicals inside and of course the plastic. And this is exactly what I had in my mind when I invented nookees. And obviously it took some time to get into the minds of people as well.
I can't point out often enough that most of my customers come from the US, as over there the narrative already changed some time ago. After the lawsuit against Thinx I feel like people from the US got the message and are not willing to have any toxins in any shape or form inside their period products.
Good for them, good for nookees. And I am glad that I always felt it deep inside, that I might have been ahead of time, but someday I will finally be able to ride the wave. And someday starts now...
